Denzel Washington - Training Day

Denzel Washington was born in Mount Vernon, New York on December 28, 1954. He was the middle child of three siblings and was raised in a Pentecostal household. He attended Fordham University and graduated with a degree in journalism in 1977.

 

After college, Washington moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. He made his film debut in Carbon Copy (1981) and went on to star in several other films, including A Soldier's Story (1984) and Cry Freedom (1987).

 

In 1989, Washington won his first Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Glory. He followed this success with leading roles in films such as Malcolm X (1992), The Pelican Brief (1993), and Philadelphia (1993).

 

 

In 1995, Washington starred in the film Devil in a Blue Dress, which earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor. He then went on to star in several other films, including The Hurricane (1999), Training Day (2001), and Out of Time (2003).

 

In 2005, Washington directed his first film, Antwone Fisher. The film was a critical and commercial success, and Washington won a Golden Globe Award for Best Director. He went on to direct several other films, including The Great Debaters (2007) and Fences (2016).

 

In 2016, Washington won his second Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in Fences. He also won a Tony Award for Best Actor for his role in the Broadway production of the same name.

 

In 2018, Washington starred in the film The Equalizer 2, which was a box office success. He then starred in the films The Little Things (2021) and The Iceman Cometh (2022).

 

In 2020, Washington was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He also received the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globe Awards.

 

In 2021, Washington starred in the film A Journal for Jordan, which was a critical success. He also starred in the film The Little Things, which was a box office success.

 

In 2022, Washington will star in the film The Iceman Cometh, which is set to be released in theaters. He is also set to star in the upcoming film The Tragedy of Macbeth.
