In 1996, Brin and Page developed a search engine called BackRub, which eventually became Google. The search engine quickly gained popularity and the company was incorporated in 1998. Brin and Page served as Google's president and CEO, respectively, until 2001, when Eric Schmidt was appointed as CEO. Brin and Page continued to serve as Google's president and chairman until 2015, when they stepped down and created Alphabet Inc., the parent company of Google.

In 2017, it was reported that Sergey Brin was funding a project to develop autonomous flying vehicles. This project was part of the "secret" Google X research lab, and the goal was to create a flying car that could be used for personal transportation.

In 2018, Sergey Brin and his wife, Anne Wojcicki, donated $50 million to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. This donation was made to support research on finding a cure for Parkinson's Disease, a condition that Sergey Brin's mother has.

Sergey Brin has been involved in Google's efforts to develop quantum computers, which have the potential to solve complex problems that traditional computers cannot. In 2018, Google announced that its quantum computer had achieved "quantum supremacy," a milestone in the field of quantum computing.

Sergey Brin has also been investing in artificial intelligence (AI) research. In 2018, Google announced that it was investing $25 million in AI for social good, and Sergey Brin was involved in this initiative.
